The primary international response to climate change is carbon trading, a failing market mechanism delaying the end of fossil fuel explpoitation and therefore worsening the problem of climate change. Carbon trading has created multiple new problems of its own and, as a mechanism designed by the powerful in their own interests, brings up critical questions of power, colonialism and privatisation which are essential to tackling the climate problem.
